There are lots of scary things in the world today -- terrorists, North Korea or Iran with a nuclear weapon, $3 a gallon gas, Democrats, Republicans, Democrats who act like Republicans, Republicans who act like Democrats. And the list goes on.
But perhaps nothing is scarier than the dangers our children face each day from those who live in our neighborhoods and, perhaps unknown to us, are convicted sex offenders.
Although there is lots of information out there to help us keep tabs on the offenders such as the Kentucky State Police Web site which provides a county by county list of the offenders' known addresses, we are still often taken by surprise when we find one is living next door to us.
